This privacy statement explains how RAMDDA processes applicant and scholarship holder data for account registration, application management, eligibility screening, selection, scholarship administration, reporting, communication with applicants, and programme monitoring.

Who processes your data

RAMDDA processes personal data together with its partner institutions, programme administrators, and, where required, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in the context of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.

Certain data may also be processed through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and relevant mobility reporting tools used for programme management and validation.

What personal data may be collected

Personal data may include identification details, contact details, nationality and residency information, academic records, submitted documents, application responses, evaluation information, scholarship status, mobility details, and communication records.

Why the data is processed

RAMDDA uses personal data to manage applications, verify eligibility, administer scholarships, communicate with applicants, maintain programme records, and meet reporting and compliance obligations.

EU / EACEA and programme reporting

Where required for programme administration and reporting, data relating to applicants, reserve-list candidates, selected scholarship holders, students, trainees, and staff may be shared with RAMDDA partner institutions, programme administrators, and EACEA.

For EU programme management and reporting, certain data may be processed through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and/or relevant mobility reporting tools used for the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.

Legal basis and data protection framework

RAMDDA handles personal data in line with applicable data protection principles, including lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

EACEA data protection is governed by Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 and related programme privacy arrangements. The European Commission privacy policy for websites managed by the European Commission also applies where relevant to linked EU services.

Who may access the data

Access is limited to authorised RAMDDA staff, partner institutions, programme administrators, and external bodies that need the data for administration, validation, reporting, or compliance purposes.

RAMDDA does not sell or publish personal data for unrelated purposes.

Data retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary to manage the scholarship process, meet programme reporting requirements, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal or audit obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised in line with applicable retention rules.

Your data protection rights

Applicants may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data where applicable. They may also request restriction of processing, object to processing where applicable, and ask about portability or automated decision-making safeguards.

No application fees
RAMDDA scholarships do not require application fees or payment for selection. Any request for payment should be treated as suspicious and reported.

EACEA Data Processing Notice

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in the context of managing the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, collects and processes the personal data of some of the candidates. In particular, certain data of the scholarship holders (students, trainees and staff members) is shared with the Agency through the mobility tool under the EU Funding and Tenders Portal and treated according to the relevant privacy statement.

Applicants and scholarship holders may review the official EACEA privacy statement for grants and prizes and the mobility tool information referenced by the programme.

How RAMDDA Uses Applicant Data

  • To create and manage applicant accounts and submitted applications.
  • To verify eligibility, academic background, uploaded documents, and mobility preferences.
  • To support evaluation, selection, communication, and reporting by authorised RAMDDA personnel and partner institutions.
  • To share required scholarship-holder information with EACEA and programme systems where this is required for grant management.

Important Notice on Attempted Frauds

Please be cautious when receiving any publicity inviting you to apply for an Intra-Africa scholarship or a message to pay a fee to be selected as a scholarship holder. Before giving out any personal data, always verify that the information comes from a trustworthy RAMDDA or partner institution source.

  • Applicants do not pay any fees to apply for, be considered for, or benefit from the RAMDDA Intra-Africa scholarship.
  • Any request for payment in exchange for selection is fraudulent.
